The longest season in the history of top-level club rugby in America will come to a conclusion at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado on May 17th when the top two teams from the regular season clash for the inaugural Pacific Rugby Premiership title. The event is being co-sponsored by RugbyTown USA and Canterbury USA. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. mountain time with tickets available for purchase from rugbytownusa.com
Glendale Raptors have already clinched their place in the final at their home stadium. Predicted by many to finish near the bottom of the league the Raptors have been the surprise team of the season led by league co-leading try scorer Chad London and a host of other talented players. After going 2-1 to start the season the Raptors have rattled off six straight wins by impressive margins.
The team that beat Glendale earlier in the season, San Francisco Golden Gate, are the most likely team to face them in the final. SFGG were red hot to start the season before cooling off just a tad. They have since re-discovered their form with three straight wins. SFGG either needs to win their next two matches, or win one and hope that both Belmont Shore and OMBAC drop their matches to secure a place in the final.
The match will also be the first time that the TMO has been used in a high-level club final in the United States. If fans aren’t able to make it out to the final it will be streamed live at on the RugbyTown USA website. The Pacific Rugby Premiership urges all fans to get their tickets early to ensure they are a part of American rugby history!
